Basilan National High School

The Basilan City High School opened its doors to the public in 1950 with one hundred twenty nine (129) students enrolled; ninety-eight (98) students in the first year and thirty-one (31) in the second year. Under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Rustico Navarro, as the first principal (1950-1955) and with the cooperation of the teaching staff composed of fifteen (15) teachers, the school progressed and in 1953, it graduated thirty-nine students. During the incumbency of Mrs. Corazon T. Ceniza, the school was nationalized by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 709 which took effect on May 27, 1975. The school had an enrolment and graduated three hundred twenty-five students. Basilan National High School boasts a rich history of academic excellence.
